DESIGNING FREIGHT CARS AND BOGIES

The All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology carries out a full range of tasks for the design of freight cars, bogies and components. Capabilities of the Centre include:

• preparation of design documentation at various stages of design work;

• a full range of design studies for new freight cars, modernization of freight car models, bogies and components, which are already in production;

• field supervision over the manufacture of prototypes from designs by Centre specialists;

• design and coordination of engineering programs and methodologies, drafting specifications for research, preliminary, acceptance, qualification and conformance tests, carrying out tests;

• preparing and performing all types of tests of product samples, analyzing the results obtained;

• support for certification and declaration procedures, and for review of design documentation by expert groups and commissions of the CIS Council, assignment of conventional number of stamping;

• monitored operation of new rolling stock.
